Amesdale Historical Society

The Society's goal is to collect and publish the story of Amesdale, and its people. Amesdale was unique, yet typical of its time and place. Recording the lives of its hardy pioneers against the backdrop of Canadian history, and preserving that history in a format which will endure, is the objective. Together we can record biographies and save the photos that might otherwise be lost. We look forward to your contributions.

About Me

Brian Ames
From where did I obtain my interest in Amesdale? It goes far beyond its name, a derivative of my surname. My Mum considered it important that I know and love both my Ames and Radford relatives. She also loved the close-knit Amesdale community, and spoke of it often. In 1976, I visited with my Aunt Kate and she started me on my first version an Ames History. In 1984, Gordon Fradsham and I (supported by our wives), put on an Ames Family Reunion, and published a history. Then in 2002, my Radford relatives and I put on a Radford Family Reunion, and published a Radford history. A couple of years ago, created a prototype Amesdale Historical Society website, and began collecting and creating biographies and stories of Amesdale homesteaders, residents, and the community in general. See www.amesdale.org The objective of this blog is to solicit your contributions in the form of stories, biographies, memories, and photos. I can be reached at ames.brian@gmail.com
